摘要

圖書館是資料收藏所,也是公共服務場所,採用兼具人文象徵性及科學記號性的符號。人文象徵性包含建築地標、圖書館管理風格及服務理念,科學記號性包含簡化概念詞的各種代碼,如分類號、編目符號、指標、元資料、ANSIZ39.50、電子資料交換(EDI)等。可見圖書館到處充斥著符號,用以表達館藏及服務讀者。本文並就臺灣大學總圖書館內的標示記號調查作一討論。

Abstract

As a place of information collection and public services, the library employs both cultural symbols and scientific signs. Cultural symbols include architectural landmarks, management styles and service concepts; scientific signs include codes of simplified concept words, for example, classification numbers, labels, metadata, ANSIZ39.50, and EDI. In short, the library is full of symbols used to present library collections and to serve readers. More specifically, this article also discusses signs used in the NTU library.

Title Emotional Management and the Reference Librarian: the Perspective of Library Organizaion

Abstract

Emotional management of employees has been much studied in a variety of work settings over the past decade. Recent literature on emotional management has proposed that negative emotions may have important organizational implications. Research of American librarianship indicates that significant levels of job stress and negative emotions exist among reference librarians. Yet emotional management is largely ignored in Taiwan's libraries. Hence, this paper examines causes and solutions of negative emotions of reference librarians from the perspective of library organization.

摘要

基於傳統醫學教育的缺失,越來越多的醫學院校開始利用問題為基礎學習法於醫學教育課程之中。快速變遷的醫療環境裡,問題為基礎學習法訓練過程使得學生能夠具備面對挑戰的能力,而學生對於資訊管理技能的需求將更為殷切。作為資訊資源提供者的圖書館,在處理各種形式的醫學資訊資源,尤其是網路上增長快速的電子資源時,所應扮演的角色將更具挑戰性,本文將以文獻分析法針對問題為基礎學習法的目標,電腦資料庫與網路醫學資訊資源的應用與圖書館的角色等問題作探討,期望對於醫學院校與醫學資訊專業有所助益。

Abstract

A growing number of medical schools are adopting problem-based learning in response to criticisms of the conventional medical curriculum. In the changing healthcare environment, medical students are required to be equiped with basic knowledge, skills, and attitudes for the coming decade. This article focuses on the importance of information resources in the PBL(Problem-based learning) environment. The issues discussed here include the objectives of problem-based learning, the usage of medical databases, and the role of medical libraries. Some information management programs are also discussed as examples of ways of transmitting library and information skills.

整合式資訊檢索介面的設計與實作

摘要

隨著網路資源的盛行,讀者所接觸之資訊來源也漸趨多元化,各種資料來源、類型以及使用方式也對讀者造成沉重的負擔。圖書館基於提供資訊服務的立場上,除了為讀者整理網路資源之外,也應該思考如何為讀者提供一種簡單而易用的檢索方式,設計規劃一多元化資訊檢索介面,整合各項資訊來源,將各種資料之查詢介面整合在圖書館WebPAC查詢介面中。本文將介紹利用Open URL技術及編碼原則,透過不同系統的查詢指令分析,將讀者所查詢的字串直接傳送至其他資料來源伺服器上,除了可以為讀者蒐集資訊資源之外,更進一步為讀者提供整合式檢索介面,方便讀者查詢資料。以南亞技術學院圖書館WebPAC為個案研究,依實際需求整合各項資訊來源,除了建立個別圖書館特色的檢索介面,並且可以引導讀者查詢相關資源。

Title The Design and Implementation of Integrated Interface for Information Retrieval System in Libraries

Abstract

With the growth of the Internet, readers have access to a growing array of information resources. The number and variety of these resources, however, have created new difficulties for users. Based on its commitment to information services, the library has collected resources and designed a simple way to retrieve various sorts of information. To integrate the information retrieval interface, we employ an OpenURL to automate the transfer of the user's query to different information servers. Nanya Library's WebPAC integrates information resources, including nearby university collections, electronic books, and Internet bookstores.

本文從使用者角度評估臺大電子圖書館與博物館雛形系統,總計深度訪談20位受訪者,包括一般使用者及具有淡新檔案學科背景者各10位,藉以了解此兩群使用者對於系統之看法,並比較其異同之處。評估項目包含系統之瀏覽功能、搜尋引擎所提供之檢索欄位、網頁整理架構及組織、系統之主選項及未來期許等項目。

Title Evaluating the National Taiwan University Digital Library and Museum System: Using the In-depth Interview Technique

Abstract

This article attempts to evaluate the prototype system of National Taiwan University Digital Library and Museum (NTUDLM) from the user's perspective. Twenty subjects are divided into two groups: ten with knowledge about the Tan-Hsin Archives, and ten without. The author compares the experience the experience and opinions of these two groups through in-depth interviews. Finally, the author evaluates system functions, including the index browsing function, the search engine, the structure of web pages, the access point of the prototype systems as well as addressing user's expectations for future improvements.

隨著網際網路時代降臨,大學圖書館提供Web化資訊服務已相當普遍,藉由分析大學圖書館網站內容特色、資源與服務的提供方式,應對提昇大學圖書館網站服務品質有莫大助益。本文以十所美國著名大學圖書館網站為研究對象,進行網站首頁內容分析評比,並對臺大圖書館網站資源與服務進行綜合比較分析,研究結果可作為大學圖書館建置與改善網站服務之參考。

Title A Comparative Study on the Web Sites of American University Libraries and National Taiwan University Library

Abstract

The “Internet decade” has brought an increasing demand for university libraries to provide information resources and services on the Internet. The purpose of this study is to examine the web resources and services of the top ten American university library web sites in comparison with the web sites of National Taiwan University. Some preliminary results have been obtained, including the importance of library web searching and browsing mechanisms. Several problems with web site interfaces and ways of service providing are discussed. The findings should be valuable for library web design.

本文試圖探討知識管理的幾個關鍵問題:知識管理的目的、對象、範圍與流程。從一個圖書資訊學的角度,反思筆者與企業界接觸的經驗及文獻上的探討,比較對照圖書資訊學界與企業界的焦點之異同,並希望藉由本文釐清不同論說者,在知識管理的對話中,可能指涉不同的概念與層次。同時,本文試圖提供一個思考架構,在規劃知識管理,或評估相關科技產品時能有所依憑。

This paper explores some critical issues in knowledge management, including the purposes of knowledge management, the subjects to be managed, the scope to be covered, the type of knowledge to be managed and what stage in the flow of knowledge management is intended. This paper compares and contrasts the different emphases between the library and information science perspective and practices in the business world, and suggests a conceptual frame work for companies engaged in knowledge management.
