從投資報酬觀點檢視大學圖書館的服務績效

摘要

近年來,由於網際網路的使用、電子資源崛起,以及經費縮減和講求績效管理等影響下,致使許多圖書館面臨必須進行評量以證明其價值及營運績效。評量和證明圖書館價值有很多方法,但投資報酬(Return on Investment) 評量不失為一種能令人一目了然且直接的方式。拫據期刊文獻,國外已有許多採用ROI來評量其價值的實例,但多為公共圖書館及國家圖書館,而少有大學圖書館使用此方法。本文嘗試模仿及借用美國佛羅里達州冬園公共圖書館(Winter Park Public Library)以不同於以往著重於 述館藏特色和數量的評量方式,而採用將服務予以定價進而計算其服務價值之投資報酬(ROI)方式,將其試用於大學圖書館,並以某大學圖書館為實驗對象,藉以檢視大學圖書館的價值。

Abstract

It is not easy to assess and demonstrate the value of a library, especially an academic library. Among the many methods in use, Return on Investment (ROI) proves to be one of the most straightforward. In this article, the author adopted the ROI assessment model used by Winter Park Public Library in Florida, U.S.A. and applied it to a university library in order to assess its effectiveness as a means of evaluating academic libraries more generally.

臺大出版中心營運策略之探討

摘要

在臺灣,大學出版社之發展已近50年,然而,各大學出版社受限於資源有限,內、外部環境之困難而發展不易。本研究以臺大出版中心為個案,探討其發展歷程與未來之展望,期望作為臺灣的大學出版社發展之參考。
首先說明臺灣圖書出版之概況,並呈現臺灣的大學出版社發展之源流;其次描述臺大出版中心發展歷程、經營現況與面臨之挑戰;進而分析臺大出版中心重要之發展議題、未來發展方向與具體發展策略。研究顯示雖然面對各種挑戰,然而,臺大出版中心仍有發展的利基與機會。

Title A Study of the Operational Strategies of the National Taiwan University Press

Abstract

University presses have been in existence in Taiwan for almost fifty years; however, their growth has been restrained due to limited resources and difficult internal and external circumstances. This paper will make recommendations for the further development of university presses by examining the history and future outlook of the National Taiwan University Press.

The paper will first survey the current situation of the book publishing industry and then trace the development of
university presses in Taiwan. The paper will describe National Taiwan University Press's history, its current situation, and the challenges it faces as it formulates strategies for its future development.

摘要

本研究目的主要探討學生參與圖書館服務學習活動對專業成長之觀感,以及學生的參與動機與阻礙因素等。研究結合質與量的研究方法,蒐集學生參與之反應資料。研究結果歸納出「專業知能」、「服務價值」與「人際關係」三大類別之專業成長觀感。在參與動機方面,學生對於動機因素的同意程度依序為:「知識技能」、「社會經驗」、「人際關係」、「成就與奉獻」、「社群影響」以及「自我成長」;在阻礙因素方面,學生對於阻礙因素的同意程度依序為:「外在阻礙」、「內在阻礙」以及「人際阻礙」。

Title Motivation and Perspectives on Library Service Learning

Abstract

This study examined students' views on the effect of library service learning activities on their professional growth as well as students' motivations for, and reasons against, participating in library service learning activities. Using a combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches, this study collected data on students' responses to library service learning activities. The study found that students's professional growth, as a result of library service learning activities, included "professional knowledge," "service value," and "social networking." Students' motivations for participating in library service learning activities included "knowledge and skills," "social experience," "social networking," "achievement and devotion," "community influence," and "self-growth." Students' reasons given for being against participating, included "external barrier," "internal barrier," and "social barrier." This study contributes to our understanding of students' perceived effectiveness of Library Service Learning and makes recommendations based on its findings for schools and students.

圖書館數位互動學習教室使用分析

摘要

本研究以輔仁大學圖書館數位互動學習教室為例,探討管理學院師生使用狀況。本研究結果顯示大多數管理學院學生肯定該數位互動學習教室所提供之配備,尤其是筆記型電腦之使用較為正面,但對於無線網路則要求快速連線。管理學院應用數位互動學習教室之合作學習模式包括:小組討論、體驗活動、電影教學。大多數學生認同數位互動學習教室能幫助同儕間共同學習、完成小組學習任務、取得即時資訊,並提供學習空間彈性,以及多元討論與互動環境。

Abstract

This research explores the use of the Digital Interactive Learning Classroom at the Fu-Jen Catholic University Library by students of the College of Management. The classroom was used for collaborative learning, such as group discussions, experimental activities, and movie instructions. Most students considered the Digital Interactive Learning Classroom helpful to their learning, through collaborative learning, team work, and quick access to information. Students also commented that the Digital Interactive Learning Classroom could be used for courses requiring more discussion and practice. The learning space provided a flexible environment for discussion and interaction. The research showed that most students at the College of Management were positive about the facilities, especially the laptops, provided in the classroom. Many, however, needed faster Wi-Fi connection speed.

本文就2005年社會科學引文索引(Social Sciences Citation Index)之期刊引用報告(Journal Citation Reports)資料庫,所收錄146種社會學與社會工作期刊之引用數據特性,加以分析介紹,進而就期刊自我引用、期刊自我被引用與各引用數據之相關性,分別進行統計檢測,並就二種自我引用率驗證其異同。

Abstract

This study analyzes the characteristics of the citation data from 146 sociology and social work journals included in the Journal Citation Reports in the 2005 Social Sciences Citation Index. The analysis is conducted in terms of the number of citations, impact factors, immediacy index, citing half-life, cited half-life, self-citing rate (synchronous self-citation) and self-cited rate (diachronic self-citation). The study also analyses the statistics of synchronous and diachronic self-citations.

臺灣圖書資訊學教育指南發展之研究

摘要

國內高等教育正進行大學評鑑,圖書資訊學教育指南是教育的基礎與評鑑的依據,十分重要,亟待研究。本研究旨在建構臺灣的圖書資訊學教育指南,首先蒐集國際與英美等國之圖書資訊學教育標準與指南,以及我國相關研究,利用內容分析法研訂臺灣圖書資訊學教育指南芻議;再進行焦點團體法研究。焦點團體訪談會共舉辦四場,分別邀請圖書資訊學系所教師、圖書資訊學系所主任、圖書館館員、與圖書資訊學研究生參與討論圖書資訊學教育指南之要件與內涵共識。本研究最後建構圖書資訊學教育指南,其內容涵蓋圖書資訊學定義與範圍、教育任務與目標、課程、教師團隊、學生、行政管理、教學資源與設施等7大項,27小項,40個分項指標;本指南適用範圍涵蓋大學部、研究所(碩士班、博士班)、專業學程與繼續教育。本指南經中華圖書資訊學教育學會2008年年會討論獲得通過並公佈實施。

Title The Development of the Guidelines for Library and Information Science Educational Programs in Taiwan

Abstract

The Library and Information Science Education Guidelines play an important role in outlining the criteria for evaluating higher education in Taiwan. This study focuses on the development of those Guidelines. Having first assessed the relevant research in this area, we collected library and information science education standards and guidelines currently used in the U.K. and the U.S.A. The content analysis method was then used to draft the Preliminary Guidelines for Library and Information Science Educational Programs in Taiwan. Four focus group interviews were conducted to obtain a consensus on the key elements and content of the Guidelines. Participants of these interviews came from four target groups of Guidelines, namely, teachers in library and information science departments, directors of library and information science departments, librarians, and graduate students from library and information science graduate institutes. The final Guidelines covered seven categories: the definition and scope of the discipline of library and information science, the task and objectives of the discipline, curriculum, faculty, students, administration, teaching resources and facilities. Under the seven categories were 27 items and 40 indexes. Approved by the 2008 Annual Conference of the Chinese Association of Library and Information Science Education, these Guidelines are applicable to universities, graduate institutes, degree programs, and continuing education departments in Taiwan.

大學教師對資訊素養融入課程之看法與態度

摘要

本研究旨在探討大學教師對資訊素養融入課程的看法與態度,以期作為未來圖書館在規劃、設計與落實資訊素養融入課程時之參考。本研究以逢甲大學為個案,針對專任教師進行問卷調查。研究結果發現,多數教師支持資訊素養融入課程,但對於施行的做法,在不同年齡層上具有顯著差異。而施行資訊素養融入課程時,教師首重「有效搜尋資訊」能力,但「合理合法使用資訊」、「批判思考與知識整合」能力亦為重點。

Title Faculty Perceptions of Integrating Information Literacy into the Curriculum

Abstract

This study aims to explore university teacher's views on integrating information literacy (IL) into their courses. It is hoped that this study will aid libraries in designing and effecting integration in the university curriculum. In a recent survey conducted among Feng Chia University faculty, it was revealed that while responses to IL integration were generally positive, the different age groups of the Faculty members reflected different concerns.
