University presses have been in existence in Taiwan for almost fifty years; however, their growth has been restrained due to limited resources and difficult internal and external circumstances. This paper will make recommendations for the further development of university presses by examining the history and future outlook of the National Taiwan University Press.
The paper will first survey the current situation of the book publishing industry and then trace the development of
university presses in Taiwan. The paper will describe National Taiwan University Press's history, its current situation, and the challenges it faces as it formulates strategies for its future development.
