採用MARC21為單一機讀編目格式之評估:以國立臺灣大學圖書館為例

摘要

臺灣大學圖書館是以中西文資料採用不同機讀編目格式的編目作業方式,近年來,面對編目人力縮減的壓力、透過OCLC WorldCat 增進書目國際化的需求,以及國際間轉換MARC21 的趨勢潮流,促使本館積極思考中西文資料統一採用MARC21 為機讀編目格式的可行性及效益。本研究以文獻分析及問卷調查方法分別瞭解國內外使用機讀編目格式的趨勢及轉換經驗;並透過本館2008 年至2010年5月間所入藏出版品的抄錄編目比率、編目作業以及書目上傳等工作流程的實際測試及分析,評估採用單一MARC21 格式對本館編目作業的工作效益以及書目服務品質的影響。評估結果發現MARC21 格式不論對本館內部的組織人力運用、工作績效,或是外部的編目發展趨勢以及國際接軌目標,都相較CMARC 格式有更直接且深遠的效益。本研究結果與建議將作為臺大圖書館擇用或轉換機讀編目格式之政策參考。

Abstract

The National Taiwan University Library has been using different MARC formats, CMARC for Chinese/Japanese/Korean and MARC21 for western materials. Recently, to decrease human resources in cataloging, data exchange via OCLC WorldCat and the international tendency towards MARC21, we started to consider and evaluate the problems and benefits of transferring MARC21 as a single MARC format by utilizing content analysis within foreign experience of transferring to MARC21, questionnaire survey of university libraries in Taiwan and Statistics / experimental research of NTU library’s collections and workflow of cataloging. The research shows the assessment of MARC21, which displays on internal impact on human resources utilization, performance and external benefits on long-term development, communication with international, and is better than CMARC. The conclusion and suggestions will serve as a reference and guidelines for choosing or transferring the MARC format of the NTU library in the future.

國立臺灣大學圖書館多媒體服務中心使用情形與讀者滿意度調查研究

摘要

本研究於2009年以問卷調查方式,進行國立臺灣大學圖書館多媒體服務中心讀者使用情形與滿意度調查,並與2001年之調查結果作一比較。問卷內容為分三部份:一為填答者之個人基本資料;二為利用多媒體服務中心的情況;三為對多媒體服務中心之服務內容、館藏利用與使用環境的滿意度。研究結果發現:使用者以大學部學生最多,所屬學院別以文學院最多;讀者使用該中心之目的以「休閒娛樂」最多,「自我學習或個人研究需要」次之;讀者對於各項服務滿意度情形,以「多媒體服務中心空間寬敞舒適」的滿意度最高,其次為「工作人員的服務態度親切,能盡力答覆讀者問題」,滿意度最低為「視聽資料指定參考教材的使用」與「電腦隨選資訊系統(IOD)的使用」。整體而言,讀者對於各項服務滿意度,趨近於「滿意」的程度。與2001年調查之比較發現:各學院讀者人次比例仍以文學院讀者最多;讀者使用該中心的目的,皆以「休閒娛樂」為主且有增加現象;視聽館藏滿足讀者需求的情形增加;讀者對於該中心之整體滿意度有小幅度的提升。

Title The Study of User Satisfaction in the Multimedia Center of the National Taiwan University Library

Abstract

The study examines the user’s satisfaction level with the Multimedia Center of the National Taiwan University Library. Conducted in 2009, the survey aims to analyze users' characteristics, perception and satisfaction with the services, collection, and environment of the Multimedia Center. The results show that undergraduates are the most frequent users. The majority are from the College of Liberal Arts. The main purpose of using the center is for entertainment, followed by learning and research. Generally users are satisfied with the multimedia services. They are pleased with the cozy, commodious space and the always friendly and approachable staff. Yet it is found that many users hope to improve the arrangement of the course reserve collection and Information on Demand (IOD) services. Compared with the previous study in 2001, the current research shows similar findings such as students of the College of Liberal Arts are top users, and entertainment remains the top choice. Presently users are more satisfied with the collection as well as the overall services of the Multimedia Center of the library.

摘要

本文介紹國立臺灣大學圖書館的特藏資料小川文庫,特別是文庫中與聖經相關的資料。小川文庫是以日本語言學家小川尚義(1869-1947)命名,因此其中多數收藏,均是與語言學相關的書目;特別引人注意的是,文庫中有眾多聖經(或福音書)的各種語文譯本,也是本文主要介紹的對象。本文首先介紹小川尚義其人,其次概述小川文庫的內容,並討論這批書籍入藏臺灣大學的過程,再則探討小川文庫中最具有特色的聖經文獻。

Abstract

This article introduces the biblical materials in the Ogawa Collection of National Taiwan University Library. The Ogawa Collection is named after a Japanese linguist, Ogawa Naoyoshi, who was a professor in Taihoku Imperial University (now National Taiwan Univeristy). The collection includes books on modern linguistics and various editions of the Bible or the Gospels in different languages. This article will first introduce Ogawa Naoyoshi’s life, his collection, how it was archived by this university library, and then discusses its biblical materials in particular.

人文學專書出版問題對學術傳播之影響

摘要

近年來圖書館界十分重視期刊漲價議題,對於期刊出版問題在學術傳播上造成的威脅亦十分關心,Open Access 等新的期刊出版模式也常被討論。但是,對於學術出版的另一重要板塊─專書(學術圖書)則缺乏同等的重視,多數文獻僅提及期刊漲價已對圖書館購買專書的預算造成排擠,至於專書本身的出版問題及其對學術傳播的影響,則鮮少有人探討。本文由學術傳播概念出發,以倚賴專書最深的人文學領域為例,探討專書出版問題的成因,並討論專書出版問題對學術傳播系統可能會造成哪些影響。

Title Issue of Monograph Publishing in the Humanities and Its Impact on Scholarly Communication

Abstract

During recent years, libraries have paid extra attention to the increased price of periodicals and the serious implications it might have on scholarly communication. New modes of periodical publication such as Open Access have also been widely discussed. However, much less attention has been paid to another important sector of scholarly publishing—monographs (scholarly books). Most literatures only mention the low budget for monographs in libraries rather than the problems related to the publishing of monographs and its influences on scholarly communication. This paper focuses on scholarly communication, and takes as its example the field of humanism which greatly relies on monographs, to discuss the causes of problems related to monograph publishing and analyze the influences of these problems on scholarly communication systems.

摘要

近年來在亞洲地區,在圖書館中設置餐飲的服務工作越來越盛行。在臺灣,還是只有少數圖書館設置這種服務,此種服務工作的現況和發展值得關注。透過一項針對國內大學圖書館和公共圖書館餐飲服務設施所進行的調研工作,瞭解其中的狀況和問題,觀念的不建全、準備不夠、立場的偏頗和執行的差錯等都影響到其服務成效。本文並引用了新加坡圖書館的實例分析,將其構想和作法提供國內未來設置這種服務工作時的參考。

Title A Study of Food and Drink Service in Libraries

Abstract

Recently it has been popular in Asia to establish food and drink facilities as a new service to library patrons. In Taiwan, only a few libraries offer such a service. This paper reviews the results of a survey of those libraries, and analyzes the main reasons for the inadequacy or absence of such a service. In reference to the example of the libraries in Singapore, the paper argues that the Singaporean concepts, designs and practices could be used as our guidelines to promote the development of food and drink services in library in the future.

美國公共圖書館網站社會責任內容分析研究

摘要

網際網路因其多樣的呈現方式,加上網路資源取得的便利性及普及性,越來越多營利及非營利組織紛紛架設網站,營造屬於機構的存在感,以便推廣其宗旨、目標、產品,及服務,也藉以維護公眾關係。公共圖書館藉由網路作為與服務對象溝通的管道與自我呈現的平台,使圖書館不受時間與空間限制,得以擴大服務項目,拓展服務對象。大眾社會對於組織的社會角色定位,來自於其所提倡與遵循的社會責任,其中包括組織的本質及回饋社會之利益,同樣的,公共圖書館也應關注其所背負之社會責任。有鑑於此,本研究首先探討社會責任的意涵與發展,並探討應用網路於自我呈現的優勢;接著運用網站內容分析法蒐集美國25 所公共圖書館網站所呈現之社會責任概念訊息,並加以詮釋說明出公共圖書館的社會責任類型、數位體裁型式、呈現方式等;最後回歸到自我省思,期望以美國公共圖書館作為模範對象,學習其對於社會責任之融入及參與,不遺餘力的推動各項服務,並以此為目標前進。

Abstract

World Wide Web has become a focus for the popular press, mass communication, and news and media. Both profit and non-profit organizations are taking advantage of the information technology and innovation to promote their own agendas, causes, products, and services. One way the public defines an organization’s stance in society is through the notion of social responsibility and social engagement. This study therefore investigates how public libraries as information services organizations present their goals, define their roles, and articulate their social welfare and the public interests of their stakeholders on their Web presence. Content analysis was performed on 25 public library websites to identify types of social responsibility, intended audience, area of presentation, digital genre and data type. It is hoped that the public libraries under investigation in this study can become the role model in promoting social responsibility and engagement.

大學圖書館部落格迴響之研究

摘要

圖書館因應web 2.0 時代發展出許多應用服務,其中以部落格在圖書館的應用最為廣泛。相關文獻多數是從圖書館角度探討部落格服務,比較少部落格使用者的相關研究。而圖書館服務是以讀者為導向,宜從讀者的角度檢視圖書館部落格服務的效益。另外,部落格的特性中以迴響最能展示圖書館與讀者互動之情形,並反應讀者對圖書館服務的意見。且近年來我國已有多所大學圖書館提供部落格服務,本研究分析圖書館部落格的迴響,從讀者的角度探討圖書館的部落格服務。
本研究之研究目的為:1. 分析我國大學圖書館部落格迴響之內容。2. 探討大學圖書館館員以及讀者對於圖書館部落格及迴響之看法。3. 探討部落格對圖書館服務的影響。本研究以內容分析法分析我國大學圖書館部落格迴響之內容,研究對象為臺灣地區之33 所大學圖書館80 個部落格。以訪談法與問卷調查法分別了解館員及讀者對於大學圖書館部落格之看法,研究對象為內容分析中迴響數量最高之5 所圖書館部落格之館員與讀者。根據分析結果,攸關讀者權益之文章迴響數量較多,迴響類別以「回應作者」最多。多數填答者會持續追蹤圖書館部落格,但是於部落格上留下迴響的意願較低。館員表示可從部落格的迴響數量得知讀者關心的議題,並且瞭解讀者的意見與需求。最後,建立圖書館部落格須整體性的規劃,如建置目的、部落格內容、管理人員、推廣及機構首長的支持等,才能使部落格發揮最大效用。

Title A Study of University Library Blog Comments

Abstract

In order to cope with the generation of web 2.0, libraries develop a variety of services and a blog is the most widely-used application of all. In regard to blogs, most studies focused on the blog services from the library’s point of view, leaving out the blog users’. Library service should be reader-oriented; therefore, it is better to examine the library services from the readers’ point of view. Comment is the most representative characteristic of blogs, which not only display the interactions between the library and readers but also expresses the opinions of readers. Lots of university libraries in Taiwan have developed blog services in recent years. This study is intended to analyze blog comments to illustrate library services from the readers’s point of view. Purposes of this study are: 1.To analyze the contents of university library blog comments. 2. To explore the library blogs and comments from viewpoints of librarians as well as readers. 3. To explore the impact of blogs on library services. First, contents of 80 library blogs (in 33 universities) were analyzed. In addition, interviews and survey by questionnaire were conducted to investigate viewpoints of librarians and readers on university library blogs. The research targets are librarians and readers from the top five libraries which possessed more comments on their library blogs. According to the analysis, articles which relevant to readers’ right acquire more comments. Reply to the author is on the top among various types of comments. According to the survey by questionnaires, more than half of respondents tend to obtain the latest news and information concerning library collections. Nevertheless, only a few of them would have willingness to make comments on blogs. Librarians indicated that the more comments readers post, the more librarians can realize what readers concern. In conclusion, libraries would need definite goals, informative blog contents, appropriate management and promotion, and supports from the library authority to provide effective and efficient blog services.

圖書館電子資源整合查詢系統之好用性評估:以國立臺灣大學圖書館MUSE電子資源整合查詢系統為例

摘要

整合查詢系統以單一介面檢索多種異質資料庫,近年來已受到圖書館重視。本研究以臺灣大學圖書館安裝之MUSE整合查詢系統為例,以觀察法及訪談法蒐集使用者對MUSE 整合查詢系統之意見,徵集10位分布於人文、社會、自然科學、生物醫學、工程技術領域的臺灣大學研究生為受測者,給予四項指定之查詢任務,並於過程中觀察記錄受測者與系統互動情形。測試結束後進行結構式訪談,訪談內容包括對系統好用性之看法、建議及滿意程度,並將結果歸類至效率、效能、容易學習程度、吸引性及錯誤容忍程度五個面向,由使用者角度了解系統之好用性,供未來系統修改之參考。
彙整觀察及訪談的結果,本研究依據好用性的五個面向加以闡述結論,並根據結論針對MUSE電子資源整合查詢系統提出四點建議:一、改善資訊呈現方式;二、新增或修改系統功能;三、增加系統能提供之協助;四、修改難懂之術語。

Title Usability Test of Library Metasearch System: A Case Study of National Taiwan University Library's MUSE Search

Abstract

Metasearch systems perform simultaneous searches across heterogeneous electronic resources through a single entry. In order to serve users, more and more libraries install metasearch systems to integrate their resources. This study aims to investigate the usability of MUSE Search, the metasearch system installed in the National Taiwan University Library, and to better understand user viewpoints toward this system. Five components of usability were analyzed: efficiency, effectiveness, learnability, engagement, and error. Observations and interviews were conducted in this study. Ten graduate students from the fields of humanities, social science, nature science, life science, and engineering science were solicited in the study. Students were requested to achieve four tasks. While they searching through MUSE Search, a researcher observed their behaviors and took notes. After the tasks were completed, students were interviewed by being asked questions concerning the usability of MUSE Search. Their comments and satisfaction levels were also collected.
The conclusions were divided into five components of usability. According to the findings of this study, suggestions concerning MUSE Search are as follows: 1. to revise improper display of information in MUSE Search. 2. To add new search functions, or revise old ones to meet user needs. 3. To improve help functions. 4. To revise terminologies which are difficult to be understood.
