Academic librarians

圖書資料及服務費用上漲、圖書經費緊縮、新科技的影響是大學圖書館目前及未來不可避免必須面臨的挑戰。雖然大學圖書館與校園裡的教學、研究活動密切相關，大學教授對圖書館員的認知卻不夠清楚，過於強調新科技可能會使教授認為圖書館員是技術人員。本文探討大學圖書館員在圖書資訊蒐集、組織、利用指導及推廣方面所扮演的角色，並建議大學圖書館員應加強在職訓練，加強與讀者的溝通，並重視研究。

Academic libraries are facing continuing challenges from rising costs of materials and services, shrinking budgets, and the impact of new technologies. Although libraries are closely connected with teaching and research activities on campus, the role of academic librarian is not clearly understood by the faculty. This paper examines what academic librarians should do in the three areas of performance: acquisition, organization and interpretation of information, and user instruction and extension services. The author suggests that the academic librarian should recognize the importance of in-service training, communication skills, and research.

圖書館是一個成長的有機體，所以圖書館應隨著新科技、新潮流而隨時調整。館員也必須有新的思維，新的思考模式。隨著網路的蓬勃發展、電腦科技的日新月異，讀者的要求更形多元化及複雜化，圖書館工作人員唯有不斷的充實新知，學習新技能，方能滿足讀者的需求，進而提升服務的品質。繼續教育的意義與重要性已「著毋庸議」，當務之急，在具體的做法與評量的指標，本文試著由國內外文獻探討呈現近年來圖書館界同道對這個議題的努力，接著從沙克曲線、斷續式的平衡和全面品質管理等觀念說明網路時代大學圖書館員應有的教育與訓練。

Library is a growing organism. Facing the information technology evolution, academic librarians must adopt new strategies and educate themselves through reengineering the work process in order to cope with the latest development of information technology and to provide better quality services for their readers. This paper used the Punctuated Equilibrium Theory and Total Quality Management to illustrate the ideas of continuing education.

本研究旨在探討大學圖書館館員資訊素養與進修/學習意願的現況，依據2000年美國大學暨研究圖書館學會之「高等教育資訊素養能力標準」(Information Literacy Competency standards for Higher Education)及Eisenberg & Berkowitzn(1988)所提之資訊素養六個養成步驟，將資訊素養分為認知資訊需求、取得所需資訊、評估組織資訊、有效利用資訊、瞭解資訊倫理等層面以及進修學習意願構面，設計「大學圖書館館員資訊素養之研究」調查問卷，經由專家審查與進行預試，以因素分析及信校度考驗修正後，再針對臺灣地區35所公立大學的圖書館館員，採普查方式進行調查，共發出600份問卷，回收375份，有效問卷338份。本研究以敘述性統計、t檢定、單因子變異數分析、皮爾森積差相關及迴歸等方法進行統計分析，再根據研究分析，提出研究結果與建議。

The aims of this study are to investigate the gate of information literacy and learning intention of the academic librarian of the National Universities in Taiwan from the variables of different background, i.e. sex, age, affair, service years, service department, service area, to analyze the correlation between the information literacy and learning intention of the academic librarian. The investigative questionnaires are adopted in this research. The study was aimed at the academic librarian of the 35 National Universities by general inquiry. First, there was a tryout of 150 questionnaires designed according to the evaluation list of the academic librarian information literacy. Then, a series of items, factor and reliability analysis were processed to establish the reliability and validity of the questionnaire. A test of 600 questionnaires was sent to academic librarians. A total of 375 questionnaires were returned and 338 were valid. According to the collected data, the statistical analyses of descriptive analysis, t-test, one-way analysis of variance, Pearson correlation analysis and regression analysis were performed.
