Library building

近年來在亞洲地區，在圖書館中設置餐飲的服務工作越來越盛行。在臺灣，還是只有少數圖書館設置這種服務，此種服務工作的現況和發展值得關注。透過一項針對國內大學圖書館和公共圖書館餐飲服務設施所進行的調研工作，瞭解其中的狀況和問題，觀念的不建全、準備不夠、立場的偏頗和執行的差錯等都影響到其服務成效。本文並引用了新加坡圖書館的實例分析，將其構想和作法提供國內未來設置這種服務工作時的參考。

Recently it has been popular in Asia to establish food and drink facilities as a new service to library patrons. In Taiwan, only a few libraries offer such a service. This paper reviews the results of a survey of those libraries, and analyzes the main reasons for the inadequacy or absence of such a service. In reference to the example of the libraries in Singapore, the paper argues that the Singaporean concepts, designs and practices could be used as our guidelines to promote the development of food and drink services in library in the future.

影響圖書館建築發展的因素很多，能否為規劃設計者提供充份而適切的資訊（料）是其中重要的項目。目前國內有關圖書館建築方面的資料尚停留在提供基本資料的階段。換言之，國內尚缺乏以用後評估結果為主的參考性資料。用後評估資料是有系統的彙整圖書館的使用者（包括館員）對館舍中各種硬體設施的使用後意見。這些資料可以幫助設計者做成合乎需求與理想的決策，並為館員提供充份的資料以便與設計者講通。缺少了這類的資料，設計者較不易做成適切而合乎需求的決定，甚至重蹈前人的覆轍，浪費設計資源，阻礙了圖書館在建築發展上的進步。想要解決這些的問題，一方面應鼓勵相關的研究工作以發掘更多的資料，另一方面須促使研究資料的公開與交流，使圖書館界與建築界能充份的利用這些資料以互蒙其利從而提昇圖書館在硬體方面的品質與服務績效。

The insufficient information to designers for decision-making is one of the important factors which influenced the performance of facilities in libraries. Now, most information used in library design are still in the form of basic data as Building Standards. So, it is obviously that the lack of reference information as the results of Post-Occupancy Evaluation（POE）in library is so serious in design process. For lack of reference information these results will occur as designers will make more assumptions instead of decisions with real evidences, and they may make the same mistakes the other designer had done before in libraries. It will also waste the resources of design office and abstract the progression in library buildings . Two ways may solve the problems, one is to encourage researchers to find out more data and information in POE for designs & librarians, the other one is to offer more opportunities for researchers, scholars, and librarians to communicate with designers for the use and development of this kind information.

專案管理是一種新的營建制度，近年來逐漸應用到公共工程與公共建築，本文主要探討如何應用專案管理興建圖書館建築，以及此種營建制度如何有利於圖書管理行政與建築工程兩種專業領域。

Project management is a new kind of constructive system, which can gradually be applied to public works and building construction. This paper discusses the application of project management for the construction of new library buildings. This kind of constructive system is very useful to the fields of library administration and building engineering.

圖書館屬於功能性建築，學術圖書館建築的規劃，在於順應使用者需求以及機構目標，釐清使用者需求為建築規劃首要課題。歷來圖書館的規劃以館藏、讀者與館員三者為空間需求主要考量，由於科技、政治、經濟、社會變遷和館藏的變化，圖書館建築規劃持續面臨挑戰。本研究目的主要為藉由蒐集國內外大學圖書館建築規劃與使用者需求調查等文獻，分析大學圖書館使用者建築空間需求趨勢，再以嘉義大學為個案，實證調查大學師生空間需求特質。採用的研究方法包括文獻分析、焦點團體訪談、問卷調查。本研究最後提出七項結論：一、館藏空間仍是使用者最重視的圖書館建築空間；二、教師、研究生與大學生的資訊行為與圖書館使用行為有極大差異；三、不同學域師生在資訊與圖書館空間使用行為上有很大差異；四、課程輔助機制的空間為教師與學生重要需求；五、電子資源的發展為圖書館空間需求主要影響因素；六、館員的使用者研究對整體圖書館建築規劃具有重要影響；七、使用者資訊行為與空間使用行為有持續變化特質，圖書館空間需求亦將持續變遷。

A library is a functional building. The designing of an academic library should serve and support the needs of the users and the goals of the institute. To identify the needs of the users would be the most important topic of architecture designing. Previously, the functions of an academic library were mainly to fulfill three purposes: housing for the collections, service to readers, and space for staff activities. Recently the library architecture designing has been challenged by the growth of library collections as well as the rapid changes of technology, politics, economics, and society. The purpose of this study is to analyze the users' needs for the space of an academic library building. To achieve the goal, the investigator collected literature on the designing of academic library buildings and surveys of users' needs. Furthermore, I used the library of NCYU as a case study to do empirical investigation of the faculty, students and librarians' needs for library space. The methodology of the study include literature analysis, focus groups interview, and questionnaire survey. Based on the findings of the study, the investigator provides seven conclusions for overall users' needs of an academic library in the following: 1.Collection space is the most important for faculty, students and librarians.2.There are many differences in information and library space user behavior among faculty, graduate and undergraduate students.3.There is significant difference in users of different academic areas on the use of information and library space.4. It is an important requirement that an academic library should provide space and facility to support teaching and learning.5.The influence of e-resources is the main factor to the users needs of a library space.6.Librarian devoted to studying users' needs is valuable for the designing of a library building.The information and space using behavior of the users are subject to change and so should the library space continue to meet the challenge.
