我國大學BBS站圖書館討論區之調查研究

摘要

我國大學圖書館利用BBS從事參考服務已有數年,其互動式的溝通特性為圖書館參考服務帶來不同的面貌。本研究透過問卷調查,以瞭解我國大學圖書館對BBS站圖書館討論區的經營管理現況、臺灣大學圖書館讀者對於該校椰林風情BBS站圖書館討論區的滿意度與認同感,並探討其使用BBS的特性;另以內容分析法檢核臺灣大學椰林風情BBS站圖書館討論區的運作情形,俾為我國大學圖書館利用BBS進行讀者服務工作的參考。

電子期刊的館藏發展策略

摘要

近年來圖書館引進電子期刊館藏蔚為風尚,可謂建構並蛻變為電子圖書館的第一大步。本文旨在探討圖書館身處在新舊形態資訊交替之際,規劃電子期刊館藏的相關議題。首先分析電子期刊的成長狀況、特質與未來發展機會,接著就電子期刊對圖書館規劃館藏發展的衝擊與挑戰進行探討,再以歐洲的丹麥技術大學圖書館為個案研究,評析圖書館如何以「再造計畫」展開因應電子期刊的館藏發展策略,最後作者提出規劃電子期刊館藏發展應具備的視野。

Title Strategic Plans on the Electronic Journal Collection

Abstract

Over the past few years, many libraries have begun to provide an electronic journal collection as an expansion trend. This represents a big step towards the construction of a basic plan for electronic libraries. The purpose of this article is to investigate the state of transition from the traditional information service to the new one, and the layout of its related electronic journal collection. Firstly, the article analyzes the growth potential, characteristics and future opportunities of electronic journals. It then explores the impact and challenges of such journals on the library collection management. Using the Technical Knowledge Center and Library of Denmark (DTV) as a study case, the article evaluates the library’s use of a re-engineering plan to unfold and confront the development strategies of the electronic journal collection. Finally, it suggests a vision for the development of a futuristic electronic journal processing system.

「中國圖書分類法」之探討-以實例論證

摘要

「中國圖書分類法」為編目人員分類時之重要工具書,隨著科技的進步、出版品的激增,賴永祥編訂之「中國圖書分類法」(增訂七版)已不能滿足分類的需求,因而衍生出一些實際編目問題,這些問題包括:(1)電腦類類號不詳盡(2)分類編排不一致(3)類號過於簡略(4)年代問題(5)著名人物問題(6)新主題無適當類號可歸(7)類目標題用詞未臻理想(8)一主題,雙類號等。除探討上述問題外,對於一個良好的分類法所必須具備的基本要件也加以闡述,並提出相關建議,希望對將來再版之分類表修訂有所幫助,以解決部份編目上之問題。

Title An Empirical Discussion on "New Classification Scheme for Chinese Libraries"

Abstract

The New Classification Scheme for Chinese Libraries (7th ed., edited by Yung-hsiang Lai) has been an important reference tool for catalogers. However, with the advent of new technologies, publications increase in number and speed, and have overwhelmed the traditional cataloging system. This classification scheme has become obsolete and no longer effectively meets a cataloger’s needs. The purpose of this article is to discuss the discrepancies in this classification scheme and its problems. Listed below are topics of interests 1) Unclear numerical designations in the computer 2) Inconsistent subdivisions of categories 3) Over-simplified numerical designations 4) The problems of classifying by year of publication 5) Problems with famous authors 6) Unsuitable classification for new subjects 7) Unsuitable subject descriptions in cataloging 8) Duplicated designation the same subject etc. The basic requirements of a good classification scheme are also described in this article. Several suggestions are given at the end in the hope that the next edition of New Classification Scheme for Chinese Libraries would be more robust and effective for cataloging publications in the 21st century.

摘要

隨著全球網際網路的發展與成長,國內許多文化機構紛紛計畫在網路上提供中文的資訊內容,政府方面也正朝向鼓勵發展數位博物館或電子圖書館的建置計畫。最早在台大發展的數位圖書館與博物館計畫「平埔探源」,其最終目的是要將台大圖書館中稀有的館藏與人類學系的獨特藏品加以數位化,以創造更有利的學術研究環境。對一個想要支援學術研究群體的數位圖書館,這些學者或研究人員將如何使用這類數位圖書館,特別是如何與獨特的資訊內容互動,是一個十分重要的議題。本文為筆者於臺灣地區從事台灣史料使用者資訊搜尋與使用研究之部份結果,針對古文書與檔案,探討平埔研究人員於真實的日常工作情境中的運用情形,並探討此一研究結果在資訊組織與檢索上的應用。

Title Exploring Information Use of Historical Records and Archives: From the User’s Point of View.

Abstract

As a part of the national effort towards developing digital libraries, the NTU DL/M project has the initial goal of digitizing the scare historical records of Taiwan collected in the National Taiwan University Library, and some special collections from the Department of Anthropology, such as maps, photos, and articles of ethnic Taiwanese groups. These collections are raw materials valuable to the research community. But how those scholars or researchers make use of such a DL, especially how they interact with the information provided, is an important issue that has not been addressed. This paper reports the study of Taiwan research scholars, their tasks, activities and interactions with various resources. The results reveal why and how those scholars apply the tacit knowledge to their activities in order to acccomplish their tasks and in their use of resources such as historical records. Implications for system design and information organization are also discussed.

檢索問題對資訊尋求和資訊檢索之影響

摘要

本文探討光碟資料庫終端使用者之檢索問題對資訊尋求和資訊檢索之影響。本研究以國立臺灣大學學生為研究對象,以PsycLIT光碟資料庫為檢索系統,計有52位檢索者,總共進行58次檢索。本研究系統化地蒐集終端使用者之檢索背景、檢索問題和檢索結果,對於檢索問題進行性質上的分析,並進而探討檢索問題對檢索結果的影響。

使用者的資訊技術與素養﹐和使用者利用教育與使用者服務有循環互動的關係。圖書館的使用者服務(含使用者利用教育)之規劃﹐影響因素與考量依據﹐應包括資訊技術訓練與資訊素養蘊育的界說﹐與圖書館及其服務事項的定位問題。大學圖書館究竟要提供何等使用者服務﹐端視其所屬大學與圖書館本身自訂與被認定的角色任務而定。基本上﹐大學圖書館的使用絕非止於實用技術層次﹐因此其使用者服務勢必兼顧技術與素養層面。

Abstract

The information skills and literacy of users interact with and interrelate to user education and user services. The planning of library user services (including user education) should take into consideration the definition and scope of information skills and literacy, as they are to be adopted by the library in correspondence to the positioning of the library and its services. What sort of user services should be provided by a university library depends mainly on the set and perceived roles of the library itself. Essentially, use of any university library should by no means be confined to the practical and technical level, thus making it necessary for its user services to take care of both the skills and literacy aspects of user elements.
